NumberSense Day in the Junior Prep
Our recent NumberSense Day, blended the world of Mathematics with the creative possibilities of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), The event brought together students, parents and teachers for a day filled with exploration, innovation, and fun from Grade RRR to Grade 2.
At the Junior Prep, we emphasize the importance of building strong mathematical foundations in the early years. A day like NumberSense Day helps students and parents realise that Mathematics is not just something to be learned in the classroom, but a tool that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The inclusion of STEAM not only strengthens students’ mathematical skills but also ignites their curiosity in other fields, from science and technology to engineering and the arts. Throughout the day, students rotated through various interactive STEAM stations, each focusing on a different aspect of learning.
What made NumberSense Day even more special was the opportunity for parents and teachers to collaborate. NumberSense Day was more than just an educational event—it was a celebration of our school community. Parents participated in activities alongside their children, sharing the learning experience in a hands-on way. It brought together students, parents, and teachers in a shared experience that emphasized the importance of working together, asking questions, and never stopping the pursuit of knowledge. The collaboration between families and educators creates a rich, supportive learning environment that benefits students both inside and outside the classroom. The support of our parents is crucial in helping to nurture this growth, and we are grateful for the incredible participation we saw throughout the day.
As we move forward, we would like to continue to offer more opportunities for our school community to engage in fun and educational activities that inspire a love for learning.
