National Ranking Tournament - Judo

Thabang Royds (grade 9), David Stockigt (grade 11) and Simon Webber (grade 9) recently participated in a National Ranking Tournament held in Johannesburg.

In order for these players to be considered for Provincial or National selection, they must have a National ranking. These events are hosted by different provinces, and take place four times a year. These boys compete in a very competitive Group 4 category (15, 16 & 17 year olds) and have all done very well, with David currently ranked 1st Nationally in his category and Simon 2nd in his.

Simon and David have also been invited to trials which take place early next year, where a national Judo Commonwealth Team will be selected. Both will face very long training hours on the mats in the upcoming months.
