Mandela Day – Meals in Memory

On 18 July 2014 – Mandela Day – the grade 8s participated in a mega-event hosted by "Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa" at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The focus of the event was packaging meals. These will be distributed across the country in the fight to eradicate poverty. Prior to this event, the grade 8s had received training on how to package meals.

We had over 150 grade 8 students who took part in the event over three, two hour shifts. More than 650 000 meals were packaged over 5 shifts with more than 4 500 volunteers in attendance.

We also received a letter from Mr Barry Mey, the CEO of "Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa", commending our boys on their diligent effort and impeccable manners.
