Junior Prep visit Kamoka Bush School

October 11, 2016 | Junior Preparatory

The families arrived on Saturday morning and after settling into their cabins or pitching their tents the children set off, either on bikes or foot, to explore the area.

They soon discovered the Dennis Dam and plunged into the cold water. A bunch of hungry children arrived back for a delicious lunch, prepared by Chef John.

The potjie race was the activity for Saturday afternoon - families had to earn their ingredients for their potjie for dinner. The adventure walk included eating mopani worms, bobbing for apples and finding sweets in a flour bath, a ‘bok drol spog’ (spitting of buck droppings) competition and an obstacle event.

All the above was worth it as families sat around the campfire in the boma preparing and cooking their hard earned ingredients for their potjies. The delicious dinner was followed by the children braaing marshmallows over the fire before bed.

After an early rise the next morning, some set off on the ostrich run, others went on a cycle rally and the not so active enjoyed a lie in and coffee. Next was a hike to the waterfall, followed by a well-deserved and delicious brunch.

A wonderful and exciting weekend was enjoyed by all. Grateful thanks to Stephen and Kerry Baytopp and all the amazing staff at Kamoka for giving the Junior Prep a memorable weekend.
