Junior Prep ‘E.L.F.s’

October 22, 2015 | Junior Preparatory

Recycling is part of daily life in the Junior Prep. In addition to sorting recycled waste into the correct bins, the school collects used ink cartridges for the greenSchool Organisation, ‘Tops & Tags’ for wheelchairs and square plastic bottles for the ‘Bottle 2 Build’ project, whereby classrooms are built in underprivileged schools. In addition all grades visit our Saints Recycling Depot.

The three grades have been involved in many eco projects this year. Some of these projects include: Grade R’s learned about the Seasons, including migration and hibernation. Gr 1 children have decorated and planted hanging gardens made with recycled tins and the Grade 2’s have investigated ‘Birds’ and ‘Saving our Planet’.

‘Unite against Poaching’ presented an interesting talk to the children on rhino poaching and conservation.

All the eco initiatives culminated in the Junior Prep celebrating World Environmental Events such as World Environment Day, World Rhino day and World Water Week.
