JP to Matric Journey 2020

On the 01 October 2020, the annual JP to Matric Journey took a different look due to COVID restrictions.  The decision was taken that all Matrics who attended the Junior Prep would visit the JP, however the Grade R children and matric parents (who normally attend) would not be present.

Matric students in Boys’ College and Girls’ College gathered together to walk back through the campus to the Junior Prep where their school career began.

Each matric was given a party pack (containing chips and sweets) and a drink from CUPPED. They were also given a brochure showing all those who have travelled the 13 years alongside them. The photos of themselves in their Grade R / 1 / 2 pictures brought much laughter and amusement. How much they have changed!

Seven Junior Prep teachers and Gayle Harris (Junior Prep Head) were waiting at the JP entrance, and the 84 students, (50 boys and 34 girls) were divided into small groups and taken to different Grade R classrooms.  Here they squeezed themselves onto the little chairs and desks to watch a video full of cute well wishes from the current Grade R students.

The matrics presented the Junior Prep with an Olive Tree to mark the occasion, while each matric received a jar of sand to remind them to never stop playing.

The visit to the Junior Prep by the matric students is a moment to pause and reflect on their time spent at St Stithians College, and there was much emotion and a sense of belonging as students remembered how far they had come and how much they had grown.
