Grade R Walkabout

April 05, 2019 | Junior Preparatory

The Grade R children and their families took part in our exciting “Explore our Saints Campus Walkabout”.  This event gives families the opportunity to get to know our beautiful campus and a few of its unique landmarks. It is also a social occasion where families can meet each other over a picnic and braai after the walk. The event started with an introductory talk about a few of the historical landmarks and special features of our beautiful campus. It is wonderful that we have a number of Alumni in our parent group this year, including Grandfathers who attended Saints in the very early years. The children had decorated their ‘treasure hunt’ booklets in class and were excited to go exploring to find the various statues and landmarks. Each family was given a map of the campus along with the ‘treasure hunt’ directions to follow. The children certainly enjoyed showing their parents statues and landmarks which they already knew, such as the Spirit Teddy Bear and Sword statues near the Chapel. There was a welcome half way water and treat stop at the dam and bird hide.

On completing the walk the children proudly showed off their completed sticker treasure hunt books and received their Saints Explorer ‘badge’. The picnic and braai continued well into the evening and it was wonderful to see our families getting to know each other as they start their 13 year journey together through Saints.
