Grade 7 Science Fair

October 30, 2015 | Boys’ Preparatory

The boys were tasked by their science teachers to do an experiment and then show it off according to the principles of the Scientific Method.

The Scientific Method is a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing experiments. The steps are:

1) ask a question;

2) do background research;

3) construct a hypothesis;

4) test your hypothesis by doing an experiment;

5) analyse your data and draw a conclusion;

6) communicate your results.

The standard of display boards was very high and the science teachers were very impressed with learning and hard work on display.

The following boys projects were selected for further judging by an outside panel of judges consisting of Mr J Fredericks: Head of Boys’ Prep, Mr F Howard: Director-Academics and Mrs A Buchner: Girls’ Prep-Head of Science as their projects generated curiousity, were excellently displayed or were uniquely interesting: Matthew Mitchley, Jared Freeman, Tom Winter, Callum Kilmartin, Jordan Homann, Kaldon Schroeder, Adrian Leech, Kyle Strathern, Matthew Pilling, Jaime Lewis, Ian Parsons, Tendekai Mawoneke, Ryan Campbell, Onke Gwala.

The best science project for 2015 will be announced at our Celebrate Service at the end of the year.

Thank you Mr G Olivier for your enthusiasm and guidance of the projects.
