Grade 1 & 2 Sports Day

April 12, 2019 | Junior Preparatory

The Grade Ones and Twos recently had their annual Sports Day, organised by Ms de la Harpe and the sports department.

The children were very excited because the weather held up and provided the perfect backdrop for a great morning.

The children, along with the teachers, gathered in their houses at the Village Green. They could be heard chanting their war cries before going down to the Prep Field for their big procession. As they made their ‘grand entrance’ at the field, the parents cheered and clapped for them.

The parents and special guests showed their support by wearing the house colours of their child.

To kick start the Sports Day officially, each house chanted their war cry, much to the delight of the spectators. Thereafter the Grade Twos started with the first event of the day which was cross country. When all the Grade 1 and 2 children finished the cross country, they went to their different stations: sprinting, skipping, relay, long jump, agility and high jump.

The children were thrilled to showcase all the skills they had acquired during their P.E lessons. The FUN aspect was evident as the children smiled and cheered each other on during the different activities.

After the different races the children got a chance to sit down and watch the different activities for the spectators to partake in. Their younger siblings took part in a race, the grannies and grandpas had a bean bag race, the moms had a hula-hoop skipping race and the dads had a tennis ball throwing game.

It was truly a wonderful morning and we would like to thank everyone who helped make the event such a successful one.
