Girls' Prep Summer Soirée

On Tuesday, 19 March, the Girls' Prep Music Department proudly presented its first formal concert of 2024; the Summer Soirée. This event served as a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase the dedication and hard work they invested throughout the summer months.

Many of our talented musicians are preparing for external international exams through the UK-based ABRSM and Trinity College of Music. Additionally, several festivals and eisteddfods are approaching, providing further performance opportunities that are crucial for refining stage presence and practising performing for an audience.

The evening commenced with a captivating rendition by our clarinet teacher, Mr Naledi Dweba, accompanied by Mrs Annika Burke (Piano). Together, they presented the exquisite third movement from Robert Schumann's Fantasy Piece. This was followed by a showcase of 25 exceptional young musicians playing piano, flute, cello, clarinet, and violin. The high standard of performance was truly impressive, and their confidence and instrumental fluency were admirable.

A sense of tranquillity pervaded the evening, leaving the audience feeling refreshed and inspired. We extend our warmest congratulations to all the performers who presented their incredible pieces.

Our sincere appreciation goes to each performer for their diligent preparation, as well as to the supportive parents who witness our musical journey unfold. A special thanks to the music teachers for their unwavering dedication and countless hours of patience. Finally, our gratitude goes out to the audience members, teachers, and staff whose contributions made this evening a resounding success.
