French & Visual Arts Tour 2026: A Journey Through Culture, Language and Discovery

During the August holiday, a group of 46 Boys’ and Girls’ College students, accompanied by five staff members, embarked on an unforgettable French and Visual Arts tour of France, continuing a long-standing tradition of the programme. The itinerary took the group through some of France’s most iconic cities, including Paris, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Nantes, and Saint-Malo.

Students were immersed in France’s rich cultural heritage through visits to world-renowned historical and artistic landmarks, including the Louvre Museum, the Panthéon, the Château de Versailles, the Château de Chambord, and the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, to name but a few. They also experienced contemporary French culture through activities such as a Seine River cruise, a macaron-making workshop, and time spent exploring local towns and communities.

A particularly valuable aspect of the tour was the authentic exposure to the French language. Whether ordering food, navigating public spaces, interacting with guides, or exploring markets and museums, students were encouraged to use French in real-life situations. This practical engagement brought classroom learning to life and allowed students to experience the language as a living means of communication rather than simply an academic subject.

The tour also provided many opportunities for personal growth. Travelling internationally required students to develop independence, adaptability, and cultural awareness while building lasting friendships across year groups.

Other highlights included visits to the world-famous Disneyland Paris and the spectacular Puy du Fou, both of which left a lasting impression on the group.

The memories, cultural insights, and language exposure gained over these two weeks will undoubtedly remain with our students for many years to come.
