Exploring Saints: A Magical Evening of Discovery and Connection
The Grade R children and their families took part in our exciting Explore our Saints Campus Walkabout on Friday 7 February. The weather held and turned into a beautiful summer evening, ideal for exploring our campus and discovering a few of its unique landmarks and statues.
It is also a social occasion where families can get to know each other better over a picnic after the walk. The children had decorated their treasure hunt booklets in class and were excited to go on the exploration to find the various statues and landmarks. Each family was given a map of the campus along with the treasure hunt directions to follow. The children certainly enjoyed showing their parents’ the statues and landmarks which they already knew, such as the spirit teddy bear and sword statues near the Chapel.
The halfway mark at the dam for our intrepid explorers is always a special moment, as the bird hide offers many exciting animal sightings. The children also had a fun nature scavenger hunt card to complete, finding special items along the way. After they had found the last statue, our very own JP otter, the children proudly showed off their completed sticker treasure hunt books and were rewarded with a treat and their Saints Explorer badge.
The picnic continued well into the evening and it was wonderful to see our families getting to know each other as for many, this is the start of their journey together through St Stithians.
