Chapel: The Heart of the Junior Prep

May 13, 2016 | Junior Preparatory

The highlight of the Junior Prep is our weekly visit to the St Stithians Chapel.

This week the children were particularly excited as they looked forward to the termly Rector’s Chapel Service. Dr Tim Nuttall gave a lesson about God’s love for us, especially during this time of Ascension. The children enjoyed the interactive lesson as they dug into Dr Nuttall’s packet of goodies for a variety of fruits, portraying the fruits of the spirit. “The fruits of the spirit are ... Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control ... Against such things there is no law”. We encourage our little ones to live according to these values and our leadership principles are based on them.

There are times in our Christian calendar when we attend special Services. Last Thursday we had an Ascension Day Chapel Service. On the way home the one of our moms asked her Gr 1 child what she had done at school, a question asked every day by every mother. The little girl told her mother we had gone to Chapel. The mom asked her daughter why we had attended Chapel on a Thursday as our regular Chapel day is a Friday.
The little girl replied “You know those things you had in your hair to make it long?”

The mom said “You mean extensions”.

“Yes” the daughter replied, “… that's it. It was extension day. The day Jesus extended into heaven”.

We are truly blessed to be part of the Saints family.
