Old Stithian Rob Harpur competed in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on Saturday, 28 November 2015. He cycled 153 km around Lake Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand in 5 hours and 33 minutes in his Team Thandulwazi cycling shirt.

The weekend event also included other events such a mountain bike race, a relay option, and more. Rob tells us that, in total, the event had "about 7,000 participants, including about 3,000 [participants] in the main solo event of 153 km. This year was the 29th [year] of the challenge, and a total of about 190,000 people have participated [in it] over the years."

"I decided to participate in my Team Thandulwazi cycling top, so, in a sense, Thandulwazi has gone international," Rob says. He adds, "I managed 5 hrs 33 min in the Team Thandulwazi colours, having ridden in showers and wind (this is New Zealand after all!)"

Congratulations on completing a tough race, Rob and thank you for your continued support of Saints.

We are proud to have alumni like you that are inspiring excellence and making a world of difference.
