The Dukes Valentine's Concert is a love-themed celoebration of music. This year it took place on 11 February 2016 in the Chapel. There were twenty acts on the programme and each of them performed with love for what they were doing to a packed venue.

The event was a fundraiser for the Boys' College Choir and Dukes tour to the World Choir Games in Russia in July this year. The Parents' Fundraising Committee has been wonderful in coming up with ways the students can raise funds. They were also at the event early and stayed later to sell boerewors rolls, themed cupcakes, and drinks. Trevor Arran, the Chair of the committee, opened the event.

There were a range of songs performed ranging from renditions of George Ezra's "Budapest" and Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" to Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" and James Ingram and Dolly Parton's "The Day I Fall In Love."

The audience shouted its joy at the end of each performance. There was fantastic support for our talented students. Thomas Eichner's rendition of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" had our students flying out of their seats with joy and support and the rest of the audience clapping and shouting for moments after he had finished.

Another major highlight was the Boys' College Choir performance of Omi's "Cheerleader" which was the final performance. It had the audience dancing and singing along. The great choice of song, great performance, and fun dance moves ellicted a request for an encore. Of course, this request was gladly met. There were even members of the JP Choir, who had finished their performance, singing along.

Other performances that elicited fervent audience celebration included The Girls' College Choir's rendition of "Heartbeat Song" and Michael de Vos's performance of Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" which he managed while singing and playing a ukulele.

There was also a house band consisting of Theo Klassen, Marlon Green, Nola Muller, and Yvette Schoeman.

Thank you to all the staff, parents, and students involved in making the evening such a success.
