Building, Imagining and Exploring Together

Junior Preparatory

Our young students have been deeply engaged in a variety of creative and skill-building experiences across the Junior Primary.

In Grade R, children have been hard at work exploring engineering concepts through play. Using Duplo blocks, they built structures with gears and were delighted to see their creations come to life as they turned the handles and observed the connected gears moving together. Their learning journey continued as they explored the concept of simple machines - building cranes using pulleys and testing which classroom items could be lifted. This hands-on exploration ignited curiosity and encouraged problem-solving and collaborative thinking.

To celebrate the 100th Day of School, Grade 1 students took a joyful leap into the future! Using an AI-powered aging app, they imagined themselves at 100 years old- combining digital exploration with celebration. This fun and futuristic activity sparked an interest in Artificial Intelligence and encouraged imaginative thinking, while also marking a meaningful school milestone.

Meanwhile, Grade 2 students have been immersing themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of our nation in the lead-up to Nelson Mandela Day. Through PurpleMash, they explored South African heritage by designing colourful Madiba shirts, experimenting with African patterns and creating interactive e-books that celebrate everything from our diverse languages and wildlife to iconic leaders and traditions. This project developed their skills in digital design, storytelling and cultural appreciation - all in honour of Madiba’s enduring legacy.
