I have been a Kumon Instructor since 2013. My aim at the centre is to develop work skills and life skills such as concentration, time management, pencil control, self-confidence, independence and ultimately self-learning skills, in each child.

These skills are vital for any child’s progress and development. And it is by the development of these skills that we nurture each child to work to their full potential and to become well-rounded, confident individuals who can contribute to society. At the centre we maintain a calm, relaxed and positive environment in which students are able to focus on their work and enjoy their time at the centre. The atmosphere in the Ferndale centre is conducive to study.

Every child is an individual and every child’s needs are different.  At Kumon we recognise this and hence we cater for individualised study in which every child works according to their specific need.

Reading is a very important part of our English programme and students are encouraged to be reading at all times. In support of this we have a reading corner at the centre.  We also have an early learners’ section which accommodates students between the ages of four and seven. In addition, we have the independent learners’ area for students who have been nurtured to work independently.

At Kumon we guide each and every child from foundation levels to become independent learners and finally to be able to be analytical thinkers.

Our students vary in age from 4 years old to adults.  Kumon caters for every person who has a need to learn.
