Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme

It is a truism that an education system is only as good as its Teachers. The Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme offers a professional development programme to assist current Teachers and practitioners in improving their teaching skills.

This programme focuses on the development and up-skilling of Teachers, ECD Practioners and School Leaders currently working in Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres and Schools located in previously disadvantaged areas within Gauteng Province, and providing professional growth to these educators.

Sessions concentrate mainly on numeracy and literacy in the Foundation Phase; Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Science and Technology at the Intermediate and Senior Phases; and upgrading the leadership skills for School Leaders. Workshops are facilitated by highly experienced Teachers and Facilitators, who are all experts in their field.

Teachers register on a first-come, first-served basis to maximise this free opportunity to have their skills sharpened and upgraded in different courses that are presented within the programme.

The courses on offer are:

  • ECD Fundamentals
  • ECD Management (UNISA)
  • Grade R Teaching (UNISA)
  • Mathematics Teaching Foundation Phase (UNISA)
  • Mathematics Teaching Intermediate and Senior Phase (UNISA)
  • Physical Science Teaching (UNISA)

There is no charge to Teachers attending the workshops – the programme is 100% donor-funded to cover the costs of running the workshops.
