Thandulwazi Academic Scholarship Programme
The Academic Sponsorship Programme provides scholarships to talented FET-phase historically disadvantaged South African Learners, who are currently learning in a school environment where they will not be able to optimise their talent. This programme (subject to the availability of dedicated, multi-year funding) provides bursaries to talented Mathematics/Science Learners from Grade 10 to 12 and seeks to place these talented young people in St Stithians College.
Mentorship is a key feature of the programme. Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy Bursary Students at St Stithians College are assigned a Mentor, who together with the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy Head, Deputy Head and Programme Co-ordinator, meets with the Student on a regular basis and provides appropriate support on a personal basis.
Potential sponsors of this programme are requested to commit support for a minimum of three years, as it is legislatively required and preferable to ensure that the Learner can complete his/her senior high school education without having to face the uncertainty of whether or not funding is available. Presently in 2020, we have 6 Thandulwazi Academic Scholarship Students attending the St Stithians Boys’ and Girls’ Colleges.
"Young people must take it upon themselves to ensure that they receive the highest education possible so that they can represent us well in future as future leaders."
