Eastern Cape Rugby Tour

May 15, 2024 | Boys’ College

The recent Eastern Cape rugby tour was a memorable event for our rugby players, showcasing the passion and unity that make St Stithians special. Despite facing challenges and some tough losses, both the U16A and First team gained invaluable lessons that will enrich their rugby journeys at the school.

The tour kicked off with a joint training camp in Port Alfred, bringing together the First XV and the U16A team. This camp aimed to reinforce the sense of brotherhood and camaraderie within the rugby program, bridging the gap between seniors and juniors.

Although the tour began with challenging defeats against Hudson Park High School, the team displayed resilience against formidable opponents. We extend our gratitude to Hudson Park for their hospitality, hosting us with a memorable dinner and warm welcome.

The tour then proceeded to Port Elizabeth for the Grey High Rugby Festival. Here, the boys not only enjoyed spirited camaraderie but also learned valuable lessons while residing in the boarding house. A notable moment was when the leadership group of the First XV addressed the U16s, emphasizing the importance of discipline and upholding the ethos of the Saints badge. This interaction is expected to yield positive outcomes in the future.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the parents for their unwavering support throughout the tour. Their encouragement and involvement are integral to the success of our rugby program.
