The search and selection process for the position of Deputy Head was wide-ranging and drew interest from a large number of top-quality candidates who are in leadership positions at prominent schools. The recruitment process for the position of Deputy Head was managed by myself and the HR Director. A strong pool of short-listed candidates participated in two rounds of interviews with questions, discussions and presentations as well as psychometric assessments. The two interview panels included the Head of the Boys’ College, Head of the Boys’ Prep, the HR Director, Head of Girls’ College, the Chair of the Boys’ College PTA, a Parent representative of the Boys’ College Diversity and Transformation Reference Group, Boys’ College and Boys’ Prep Deputy Heads and the Rector of the College.

The interview panellists were very impressed with Mr Pearson’s presentation and his ideas for the future of the Boys’ College and his determination to make boys aware of their roles in society and the importance of being socially, environmentally, and politically aware. His outstanding qualities as an educational leader with insight and passion came through very clearly in his focus for the Boys’ College to foster relationships, to continue to grow as a space of belonging and to be relentless in embedding the values we wish to see our boys armed with for life.
