Grade RR Mother's Day - Celebrating Love Through Many Languages
What a wonderful morning it was as we celebrated the special women in our children’s lives.
Our Mother’s Day event was filled with music, creativity, joy, and heartfelt moments. The children opened the morning with songs and instrumental performances dedicated to their mothers, creating a warm and meaningful atmosphere for the celebration. Their work was thoughtfully displayed throughout the venue for families to admire and appreciate during the morning.
Throughout the event, the children proudly shared the creations they had prepared with great care and affection. Their flower gardens and portraits of their mothers provided each child with an opportunity to express how they perceive, understand, and value their mothers. A QR code also gave families access to a special video presentation in which the children shared the reasons they love their mothers. Their sincere messages brought great joy to everyone present.
The morning concluded with a thoughtful pamper session. The children treated their mothers to handmade sugar hand scrubs, lotion they had prepared themselves, and even polished their mothers’ nails. These meaningful acts of care allowed the children to demonstrate love, connection, and service in a practical and memorable way.
This experience reflected the principles of a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum, where children are recognised as capable, expressive, and rich in ideas. Through music, art, technology, sensory experiences, conversation, and acts of care, the children utilised many “languages” to communicate their love and appreciation. The event also encouraged family involvement, child-led expression, and meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom environment.
This celebration was both meaningful and valuable, as it honoured relationships, strengthened the partnership between home and school, and provided children with an authentic opportunity to practise gratitude, empathy, and kindness. More than simply an event, it was a shared experience of love, connection, and lasting memories.
