PHYZZ FEST 2016

The sixth annual inter schools physical theatre festival PHYZZ FEST proved to be a remarkable night with over fifty talented young drama students showcasing their skills of creating and communicating through movement and expression. The evening began as our presenters introduced special guests Bailey Snyman (from the Matchbox Theatre Collective), Jaques de Silva (of ZikkaZimba) and Kirsten Stewart (alumnus from Man in the Moon Productions), to a huge audience that filled the entirety of Mears Hall. The atmosphere was electric!

Four schools participated and when one of the performers from St Peter’s College nearly fell during a particularly daring leap, there was a collective gasp. Fortunately, she landed safely on her feet and the audience cheered with a mixture of relief and awe. Other performers from St John’s College, St David’s Marist Inanda and our very own St Stithians Girls’ College also engaged the crowds with their thought provoking and compelling work. The professionals, teachers, students and friends who attended all agreed that the calibre of the performances was exceptional.
