  • HAYLEY PARKER - Class of 2008 - qualifies for the RIO Olympics in the Equestrian Sport of Eventing.

"Hayley graduated from Pretoria University with a BComm Econometrics Degree and was in the top 15% of the Faculty.  But Hayley’s passion and XFactor has always been in Equestrian Sport. She and her South African bred horse, Pohlands Cuppuchino have now met the SASCOC and FEI selection criteria.  They are being trained by Captain Mark Phillips in the UK and she is in consult with a top Sport Psychologist to ensure her continued mental strength and strategy.  They are on their final challenge of the Campaign and she has developed a Sports Pledge page to support the next critical leg in the RIO Olympics Campaign.  She and Cuppuchino have to compete in the FEI 3* Barroca D’Alva event at the end of February in order to secure South Africa’s ticket to RIO.  She will undertake the 1,300 mile Journey from the UK to Portugal alone with Cuppuchino starting on 18th February. They will travel from the UK to France on the Ferry and then through Spain and onto Portugal. This six day return journey will include overnight stops for Cuppuchino to rest and arrive in good health."

  • CAROLYN THOMPSON (nee Smith) - Class of 2004 - Represented South Africa at the Rowing Junior World Championships in Spain in 2004 and at the World Championships in Germany in 2008.

“St Stithians introduced me to my passion for my sport, but ensured that at the same time I maintained balance in my life. The coaches challenged me, taught me how to really work hard and helped me push through any limits that I thought existed. There was always strong support from all the staff so that I could pursue my sporting goals without neglecting my academics. Saints, its staff and the strong calibre of girls that it attracts was definitely a key driver in helping me achieve successes in sport as well as other aspects of my life.”

  • MICAELA BOUTER - Class of 2013 - currently at the University of Houston, represented South Africa at the 2015 FINA World Diving Championships in Russia 2015

"In my 13 years at St Stithians College, I tried almost every sport that St Stithians had to offer. Saints was the place where my diving career began; I fell in love with the sport after doing it in one of our Physical Education classes. The Saints Aquatics Centre became my home over the years as I trained there for both school and club practices. I am so thankful for all the support that I received from both the staff and students, and for the constant acknowledgment of my sporting achievements as I began to focus on diving. This really encouraged me and gave me the confidence to pursue my diving further.”

There is no doubt that the variety of sports available at the Girls' College and the excellent coaching I received aided in my success as an athlete. At the Girls' College I learned the value of hard work, commitment and sportsmanship. These characteristics are all imperative in the development of successful female athletes.
