With Inside Active on board as the St Stithians College wellness partner, the High Performance Centre now offers you access to the expertise and skills of a number of specialists including a physio, personal trainer, dietician, doctors, and more. Biokineticist

Charl_K

Charl Kaschula – Biokinteticist 

Charl is a passionate Biokineticist, who graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2008 where he had the privilege of working with some of the Maties rugby teams. He loves sport, and he is a keen runner and mountain biker, having completed races such as the New York marathon, Joberg2c, Berg and Bush to name a few.

Louise Carter – Dietician

Louise is a registered dietician. She completed her BSC in Dietetics at Stellenbosch University, she has a Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee, and she has a diploma in Functional Medicine. She has been practising for 10 years now and each day she becomes more passionate about helping people to help themselves. Louise’s specialties lie in sports nutrition, weight management, education around disordered eating especially in young girls, lifestyle diseases, improving energy levels, pregnancy, and improving lifestyle.

Sandton GP: Health with Heart family practice are excited to join the team at the St Stithians High Performance Centre. By doing so they have made members of their wonderful team of doctors available to see you and your family members for all of your health needs.

Dr Francoise Pinillos is the lead doctor on site. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2007, and has worked at Baragwanath and Charlotte Maxeke Hospitals for the last few years focusing most of that time on Paediatrics. Francoise's graceful presence is just what the doctor ordered; she holds a calm and tender space for patients to share and to be treated in a holistic manner.

Sister Phumzile Mlangeni – Nurse

Sister Phumzile Mlangeni is a private nursing sister who has many skills to help with improving your health and wellness. She has a diploma in professional nursing (general nursing, community nursing, psychiatry, and midwifery) and she is a certified HIV/AIDS councillor. She can help you with any of the following: preventative health risk assessments, cancer screening, reproductive health, cooperate wellness, school health and well-baby clinic (vaccines, milestones, etc.).

Ntando Khumalo – Personal trainer

Ntando is a passionate personal trainer who loves to see people succeed. Having done the transformation himself, he is living proof of the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle. Ntando can help you with transformation programs, group fitness, and strength conditioning. 

Physiotherapist

Kirsten_M

Kirsten Mortimer – Physiotherapist

Kirsten is a registered physiotherapist who qualified at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2006 with a BSc. Physio. She has a keen interest in sports. Being an enthusiastic runner herself, she has a special interest in sporting and particularly in running and orthopaedic injuries.  She has worked with the Pirates U19 and U21 rugby teams and has also completed her OMT1 (Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy) certification in 2011. Kirsten assisted on the SPT (Sports Physiotherapy) course, as well as assisting on the OMT1 course. Kirsten is also an Old Stithian.

Hené Branders – Physiotherapist

Hené is a registered physiotherapist who qualified at the University of Pretoria. She went on to complete her SPT1 (Post Graduate Sport Qualification) in 2010 through the South African Physiotherapy Society, where she is also now an assistant on the course. She is currently a full-time physiotherapist at the Golden Lions Rugby Union. Before moving to the Lions she spent 2 years working as the Free State Cheetahs' team physiotherapist.

Hené was also part of the Rosebank Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics team for 5 years before moving to the Cheetahs in 2015. She has treated and rehabilitated athletes from all levels of sport, focusing on soft tissue, sport, and orthopaedic related injuries. She has a keen interest in Lynotherapy and endurance-based sports.

Emily Mpherwane – Receptionist

Emily is the one to welcome you to our wonderful centre; she can make appointments for any of our practitioners or trainers and give you any information your require about the High Performance Centre. She will also be able to direct you to the correct specialist should you be unsure of who can assist you with what.

Sport Scientist

Stefan van Deventer – Sport Scientist

Stefan graduated with an honours degree in Sport Science from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2009. Since then he has worked with UJ in the fields of rugby and cricket: this includes work with the Rugby 7s. He is also involved with various provincial and school rugby teams.

He is currently a Sport Scientist for the Golden Lions Rugby Union.
