Girls’ College PTA pays tribute to our wonderful teachers

“Teaching is the profession that teaches all other professions” - author unknown.

October is celebratory month in the Girls’ College as we pay tribute to our Matrics and celebrate their high school journey through many meaningful rites of passage events. Coincidently World Teacher’s Day also falls in the month of October. It is fitting that we celebrate our teachers in this month, as our incredible staff have played a significant role in the success of this year’s Matric Class.

Teacher’s Day on the 5th of October is a UNESCO internationally recognised day. This year the theme for Teacher’s Day was “The teachers we need for the education we want: the global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage”.  The focus of this year’s celebration was to advocate for a dignified and valued teaching profession and to showcase the value of teachers in an effort to motivate, retain and inspire teachers to continue their good work and significant role in the lives of our young people.

The Girls’ College PTA took on this supportive and encouraging role and celebrated the Girls’ College staff through a beautiful appreciation tea in celebration of the lasting impact and meaningful role the Girls’ College teachers play in the lives of our girls.

Gratitude is extended to Olimpia Benfield the Girls’ College PTA Deputy Chair who spearhead this initiative together with the support from the PTA and many other volunteer GC moms. Our staff were absolutely thrilled with the array of treats, and beautiful  set of staffroom mugs gifted to the teachers.

Thank you to our PTA for the role you play in supporting our school and for valuing our teachers. This is what meaningful collaboration is all about.
