Girls’ College Matric Results 2023
We are delighted to announce that our 2023 Matrics have excelled in the IEB’s matriculation examinations. The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) offers a rigorous assessment of the National Senior Certificate curriculum, preparing our students well for tertiary study. We will be highlighting the achievements of our top performers below. We wish also to stress our pride in each matriculant who has done her best. We thank our teachers, parents and community for pulling together with our students to enable them to achieve excellence and make a world of difference.
Our philosophy of learning and teaching promotes an academic culture which seeks to meet and extend the needs and styles of each student, enabling personalised and meaningful learning to take place. We pride ourselves on this approach, which seeks to optimise individual learning across the academic spectrum and includes enrolling a number of students with identified learning needs. We are proud of the top academic achievers, among the best in the country and whose results are documented individually, as well as of each student who has excelled against personal benchmarks.
Matric is the destination of a long journey of learning. We acknowledge the contributions of the teachers at the Preparatory Schools of St Stithians College, as well as those of other Primary Schools which educated this year’s Matric cohort. We pay tribute to the impact of Kamoka Bush School on the lives of our students on their Saints journey.
At this time of focus on the academic gateway of Matric, we affirm our commitment to the education of young people of character, who make an impact as leaders and citizens, shaped by a Methodist ethos. Academic learning is complemented with a diverse and highly successful sporting, cultural, outdoor education and community engagement curriculum.

As you stand on the threshold of a new chapter in your lives, I want to commend you for your unwavering commitment to excellence. Your achievements reflect not only your academic prowess but also your ability to overcome challenges, collaborate with peers, and embrace the pursuit of knowledge. You have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity and showcased the qualities that will undoubtedly contribute to your future success.
As you move forward into the next phase of your lives, remember that this is not just an end but a new beginning. Embrace the opportunities that come your way, continue to learn and grow, and let your passion guide you toward fulfilling your dreams.
I encourage you to reflect on the friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the personal growth experienced during your time at the Girls’ College. Cherish the memories you have created and use them as a foundation for the exciting journey that lies ahead.
As you celebrate this achievement with your family, friends, and teachers, take a moment to express gratitude for the support and guidance you have received throughout your academic journey. Remember that you were never alone on this path, and there are people who believe in your capabilities and have been cheering for your success and supporting you for the past thirteen years. In celebrating your achievements today, we pay tribute to One and All who have journeyed alongside you in support, care and encouragement, ensuring your ability to thrive and succeed. We can express collective gratitude to your teachers for their dedication, encouragement and high-quality tuition, together with your families for their unwavering support and hope in you. This gratitude is extended to the teachers in both the Junior Prep and Girls’ Prep as well as our feeder primary schools who nurtured you in your formative years and provided important foundational skills and strengths which have also played a role in your success and achievements today.
I extend congratulations to our brothers across the field who have been important partners on your journey to success. We have learned significant lessons from one another and continue to challenge each other’s thinking. Gratitude is also extended to the team at Kamoka Bush School, who have played a role in crafting the unique and holistic learning experience that is synonymous with St Stithians College. I also acknowledge the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) for their fine administration of the examination process and for their support and efficiency in running a fair, valid and reliable high-stakes assessment.
As you head into an exciting and unknown future, may you actively strive for fulfilment in all you do, aiming to make a positive impact and leaving a lasting legacy. Denis Waitley so aptly notes, “It is not in the pursuit of happiness that we find fulfilment, it is in the happiness of pursuit”. Keep close to your heart the Saints Honour Code; you are incredible young women who will achieve greatly. Go out there and make a world of difference; as Stithians Alumnae much is expected of you.
Once a Saint, always a Saint. May God continue to hold you in the palm of his hand.
Warm wishes
Dr Sally James
