Why the Endowment Fund?

The R75 million raised for the Thandulwazi Trust Maths and Science Academy Endowment Fund, in celebration of St Stithians College’s 75th Anniversary, will reinforce the foundation of the Saints beacon of light into communities across South Africa – providing solid ground to our 7th school to continue to serve One and All in our Saints community through its nation-building educational upskilling and upliftment programmes.

All funds, assets and BBBEE-partnership shares donated to the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy Endowment Fund will form part of the principal investment portfolio which will be managed to yield the best possible returns in order for a portion to be released after a period of time to support the four Learner- and Teacher- focused programmes serving thousands of beneficiaries from socio-economic disadvantaged communities.

The delayed use of investment income will provide sustainable impact over a longer period of time and also encourages the Thandulwazi Endowment Fund to grow the income from the fund to ensure that the future needs of the Academy are covered.

Post 2020 it has become even more evident that the establishment of a strong endowment fund for the Thandulwazi Trust Maths and Science Academy is an imperative if the 7th School of St Stithians College is to weather any storm and continue to provide safe guidance to all those in our community.

Many are looking to our beacon of light for support, guidance, and solace - placing an honourable burden on the Academy to continue providing the light of hope. It is up to us to ensure that One and All continue to be supported by our vision to inspire excellence. Our South African children are our priority and we know we have work to do to make a world of difference for, and through, them.

We are stewards of the founding principles and must provide continued, happy fulfilment in educational advancement for One and All, making a world of difference through education in South Africa.

As with all adversity, the COVID-19 pandemic has provided the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy with an opportunity to rise to a challenge. We ask our community to rise with us in solidarity and hope, to stand as the beacon of light for future generations on this journey of generosity and stewardship.
