July 26, 2016 | Boys’ Preparatory

We have made it half way through our “calendar” journey together. It is a good time to pause, slow down reflect and ultimately enjoy a well-earned break. It is a time to think about where we’ve been and appreciate what we’ve done, where we are and what we are doing, where we are going and what we will do.

The physical action and symbolic meaning of our Chapel bell ringing in our new boys, staff and interns  and in particular our Grade three boys, at the start of their journey with us is so intense that it feels “just like yesterday” that our preparatory welcomed new brothers to our family.

From Grade information evenings to academic assessments; a community picnic to Dads and lads rafting; personal development to Pirates of the Curry Bean; sport to socials - the past seven months has revealed that within our educational programme, we have delivered extensively on our Five pillars: Academically, culturally, and spiritually, in sport and within our leadership curriculum. A scholar, thespian or sportsman begins to take shape…

Listing examples of our numerous and varied engagements is not the focus of this article, however, I would encourage visitors to our site to view our All in One newsletters and past web articles to gleam a picture of our five pillars in action.

“Static” has not been the setting of the last seven months. The boys’ preparatory continues to evolve as the staff and boys embrace innovation, technology and pedagogy that reinforces our curriculum and challenges our boys. In addition, we expose our boys to the gift of collaboration, integrated teaching, a journey towards self-development and a genuine connection with others.

The trendy hash tag: #Know Yourself #Be Yourself #Make your contribution underpins our #good boy Great Saint initiative and adds to our values driven actions. Our desire to nurture and develop rounded boys of character is always and ideal we aspire to. The preparatory has purposeful milestones for each grade as they journey through our preparatory which we are confident will assist them towards their end point of being a Good Man.

Looking back, it is clear that Happy Fulfilment resides in the corridors, classrooms, sports fields and drama stage of the preparatory. Opportunities a plenty are created for each boy.

Suffice to say, we can look back and see how far we have come. The question each boys must answer for himself is: How will it end?

Let go of missed opportunities, learn from the past seven months and embrace the remainder of the year with a renewed vigour. Set your goals and put action to your dreams. Carpe Diem boys.

Wishing our boys a safe and fun filled holiday. Limit your screen time, enjoy the time to be a boy.

Yours in education
