Chess
Chess is great fun and it has been proven to improve children’s creativity and focus.
So far, 2018 has been far better, results-wise, than 2016 and 2017. Interest in the game is unprecedented. There are always a number of chess players in the Girls' Prep Chess Venue at second break. Many Grade 6 girls play chess. Most days, they play before school, after tutor, during second break and when they have finished class work.

Inaugural Inquiry Based Learning Cluster Meeting
The Inaugural ISASA IBL (Inquiry-Based Learning) Cluster Meeting, hosted by the Girls’ Prep, was a great success. Although its purpose was to provide an overview of IBL, it also furnished us with a few tools and ideas which we could use in class the following morning.

St Stithians Girls’ Preparatory Grade 7 learners recently participated in its 12th ‘Something out of Nothing’ fashion show. This glitzy event was initiated by Mr Sam Veldman, the D & T teacher at the Girls’ Preparatory, and is one of the highlights on the fashion-forward girls’ calendar!

Grade 4 - Dads’ & Daughters’ AMAZING RACE 2018
The grade 4 dads and daughters had a fun filled amazing race on Saturday 5th May. The girls and dads arrived with their adventure spirit, unaware that they would be running all around the school grounds and not just around the Girls' Prep!

Round Square Africa Conference for 12-14 year olds hosted by Bridge House School
Both Girls’ Prep and Boys’ Prep sent delegates to attend this year’s conference. The eight girls and eight boys selected to participate were wonderful ambassadors for our school and shared the experience with schools from Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa.

St Stithians Prep Schools Excel in Think Ahead iTeacher Awards
The Girls' Prep decided to introduce iPads in Grade 5 as part of a pilot rollout in July 2016. The Apple platform, iTunes U, was selected as the course management tool that would best meet the needs of the students and teachers.
