Perceptual Games Morning in Grade R

March 16, 2018 | Junior Preparatory

At the Grade R Curriculum Evening we highlighted the importance of consolidating the children’s perceptual skills in readiness for formal learning.  The more exposure and practise the children are able to get in applying their perceptual knowledge, the greater the benefit for their successful future learning.

On Wednesday a number of  'courageous' parents from Mrs Sly and Mrs Blamey's classes volunteered to participate in our first  perceptual games rotation with the children. This week the perceptual focus was on visual memory, visual spatial and visual figure ground skills. The children had a wonderful time and really enjoyed interacting with the parents.

As Jane D Hill says: “At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.” We extend our thanks to these parents for giving of their time and energy.
