In the most dramatic finish seen at the Henley Royal Regatta for a number of years, Anthony Lester rowing at Bow in the Thames Rowing Club elite coxless four won his second Henley medal in two years in the Visitor’s Challenge Cup. Anthony’s crew beat allcomers in the ‘Visitors’ including a number of overseas crews. The final race was against a very powerful University of California, Berkeley crew.

During his career, Anthony has won over 50 medals (including golds at SA Champs) and he has won 3 consecutive Buffalo 1st VIII’s whilst racing for Saints. He attended a Junior World Championship in 2003, he won Boatrace 2008 rowing for Wits (also awarded a University rowing “Blue”), he won a senior VIII Gold at SA Champs, and he competed in 9 consecutive Henley’s racing for Wits and the Thames Rowing Club.
