OUR APPROACH
We strive to uphold the Saints Honour by honouring God, honouring others
and honouring self.
At St Stithians Girls' Prep, we believe in the pursuit of excellence
and we also believe children have excellence within them. It is up
to us as parents and educators to provide opportunities for every
child's special gift to be recognized and nurtured.
We aim to achieve this through a variety of means. Firstly, we have
embraced Outcomes Based Education which emphasizes, amongst other
things, the importance of being South African and taking pride in
our heritage. It is also a curriculum that develops the valuable
concepts of rights and responsibilities. Our thematic approach
ensures that issues are contextualised, relevant and focused on
skills development.
We believe that it is very important to offer differentiated
teaching and learning experiences. We have investigated Gardiner's
theories of multiple intelligences and the impact of right-brained
children living in a left-brained world. These form an integral
part of our planning and in this way we meet and extend the
individual child's learning styles.
We hope that we will develop well-rounded, well-balanced, caring and
confident young women, who are intrinsically motivated. We do
not believe in outward recognition, as intrinsic motivation
should be the driving force in all areas of our curriculum.
