Current News
Squash

Congratulations to Tina Power who won the SA U19 Prince Open Squash
Tournament held at Parkview Squash Centre this weekend. This is an
awesome achievement as there were many players from all over Gauteng
and the Free State competing.
Short Story
Alexandra Kinmont (Gr 8) wrote a short story entitled “Tara Sosarat
and the Curse of the Habbarues” and entered this into the general
category of the SFSA 2009 short story writing competition. We are
enormously proud of her, as is the Girls’ Prep, as she was placed
in the top 10 and because she was the only person under 18, was
awarded a special prize! We hope to purchase “The Best of SFSA Vol
3” for our library.
Alexandra is also the 2009 winner of the Anne van Zyl Academic
Scholarship at the Girls’ College.

St Stithians Girls’
College are very proud of their first team who performed incredibly
well at the SA National Aquatics Festival held at St Mary’s this
weekend. Most of the girls in the team have been selected to
represent Gauteng waterpolo in various age groups as this is a very
young team consisting of two grade 9s, a grade 10, five grade 11
girls and four matrics.
The match against Clarendon from the
Eastern Cape was extremely exciting as Clarendon were tipped to
be the favourites and have been unbeaten in this festival for a
number of years.
