BOYS' PREPARATORY - HEAD'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Welcome to 2010 and to St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory School. One of our boys said to me, “its 2010 let the games begin.” We welcome the 88 Grade 3 boys and the 17 new boys who joined us at the beginning of the year and the beginning of a new decade. We also welcome our new teachers, Mrs Joanne Thompson and Mrs Shona Stockigt.

The first decade of the third millennium has left us with a variety of new innovations and exciting educational possibilities: We plan to make the most of this new potential to ensure that our boys are well prepared for the following decade and beyond.

During their time in the Boys’ Prep, under the guidance of our experienced and skilled staff, boys have the opportunity to be involved in a range of experiences that establish a foundation for what we believe will be a productive, happy and successful future:

This education of the boys is built on five pillars

 SPIRITUAL

  • They are encouraged to examine the faith and teaching of the Christian church in the light of their own belief system and those of others in order to develop spiritual understanding in themselves and those around them.
  • They are encouraged to develop a set of values and a code of ethics that will enable them to make valued contributions to the world of the 21st century.

ACADEMIC

  • They are encouraged to develop a love of learning and to ensure that they possess the skills, resources and motivation to fully experience lifelong education so that they have the best foundation for their life beyond preparatory school.

SPORT

  • They are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sporting activities. The enjoyment of participation is paramount to our ethos.

ART AND CULTURE

  • They are encouraged to participate in a wide range of artistic and cultural activities. The enjoyment of participation is paramount to our ethos

COMMUNITY

  • They are encouraged to develop a sense of service to others and to live the Saints Honour.
  • They are encouraged to develop an understanding of community relationships where individuals will learn to listen and speak to each other in ways that will lead to a deeper understanding of human needs.

We strive to provide an environment in which the boys can flourish.

We hope and trust that you and your son will make the most of every opportunity and every game offered to him in 2010.

Yours sincerely

Alistair Stewart

Ultimately it is not a question of what a man says, nor indeed of what he does: it is a question of what he is. This surely and nothing less than this is the aim of education in the true sense.
